Complete Installation Guide
Learn how to install Minecraft Bedrock addons, maps, and textures on your device. Follow our step-by-step instructions below.
Installing .MCPACK & .MCADDON Files
This format allows you to install addons much faster than ever! Let's learn how to install mods for Minecraft PE in .mcpack/.mcaddon format:
1 Download the Addon
Download the addon files in either .mcpack or .mcaddon format from PVCRAFT. These files are specifically designed for Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Note:
.mcpack files typically contain either a behavior pack or a resource pack, while .mcaddon files usually contain both behavior and resource packs together.
2 Locate the Downloaded File
Open your device's file manager and navigate to the Downloads folder. You should see your downloaded file there.
3 Open the File
Tap on the downloaded .mcpack or .mcaddon file. Your device should automatically recognize it as a Minecraft file and prompt you to open it with Minecraft.
- If Minecraft opens automatically: Proceed to Step 4
- If your phone cannot open the file: Continue to Step 3.1
3.1 Install a File Manager (If Needed)
If your device doesn't recognize the file format, you'll need a file manager app:
- Download a file manager app like Files by Google or File Manager+ from Google Play Store
- Open the file manager app and navigate to your Downloads folder
- Find the .mcpack/.mcaddon file and tap on it
- Select "Open with Minecraft" when prompted
4 Wait for Installation
After opening the file with Minecraft, the installation will begin automatically. You'll see a black screen with a progress indicator.
- Be patient: The installation may take a few moments
- Don't close Minecraft: Wait for the installation to complete
5 Apply the Addon in Game
After installation, you need to apply the addon to your world:
- Launch Minecraft PE
- Create a new world or edit an existing one
- Go to Settings → Resource Packs (for textures) or Behavior Packs (for mods)
- Find your newly installed addon in the "Available" section
- Activate it by moving it to the "Active" section
- Start your world and enjoy!
Installing .ZIP & .RAR Files
These are archive files that require manual extraction and placement. Follow these steps carefully:
1 Prepare Your Device
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- The latest version of Minecraft Pocket Edition installed
- A file manager app (we recommend Files by Google or File Manager+)
- Enough storage space for the addon
2 Download and Extract
Download the .ZIP or .RAR file from PVCRAFT, then extract it:
- Open your file manager app
- Navigate to Internal Storage → Downloads
- Find the downloaded archive file
- Long-press on the file and select "Extract" or "Extract All"
- Choose a destination folder (the same folder is fine)
Important:
Most addons will create 1 or 2 folders after extraction. If the addon doesn't have custom textures, you'll see only one folder. Most addons will have 2 folders.
3 Understand Folder Structure
After extraction, you'll typically find these folders:
- [Behavior Pack] Addon Name - Contains the mod's behavior (what it does)
- [Textures] Addon Name - Contains the mod's textures (how it looks)
Some addons might have different naming conventions, but the concept is the same.
4 Navigate to Minecraft Folders
Using your file manager, navigate to the Minecraft PE directory:
Inside the com.mojang folder, you'll find these important directories:
- behavior_packs - Where behavior packs/mods are stored
- resource_packs - Where texture/resource packs are stored
- minecraftWorlds - Where maps/worlds are stored
- minecraftpe - Don't modify this folder
5 Copy Texture Folder
Let's start with the texture folder (if your addon has one):
- Go back to your extracted addon folder
- Find the folder with "texture" or "resource" in its name
- Long-press on it and select "Copy"
- Navigate to: /games/com.mojang/resource_packs/
- Tap "Paste" to copy the folder here
6 Copy Behavior Folder
Now let's copy the behavior folder:
- Return to your extracted addon folder
- Find the folder with "behavior" in its name
- Long-press on it and select "Copy"
- Navigate to: /games/com.mojang/behavior_packs/
- Tap "Paste" to copy the folder here
7 Activate in Minecraft
Now you need to activate the addon in Minecraft:
- Launch Minecraft PE
- Create a new world or edit an existing one
- Scroll down in world settings
- Open Resource Packs → Find your texture pack → Activate it
- Open Behavior Packs → Find your behavior pack → Activate it
- Start your world and enjoy!
Pro Tip:
If you're installing a map, copy the extracted map folder to /games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds/ instead. The map will appear in your worlds list automatically.
Quick Tips & Troubleshooting
Restart Minecraft
If addons don't appear after installation, completely close and restart Minecraft to refresh the packs list.
Check Folder Names
Make sure folders don't have special characters or spaces. Rename if necessary for better compatibility.
Game Version
Ensure your Minecraft version matches the addon's requirements. Some addons need specific versions.
Experimental Features
Enable "Experimental Gameplay" in world settings if the addon requires it. Most behavior packs need this.
